South Carolina mother charged in infant’s fentanyl overdose death, officials say

The mother of a Charleston County, South Carolina, infant found unresponsive in her home is now charged in the child’s fentanyl overdose death, officials said Monday.

That is in addition to charges connected to animal abuse and dog fighting, according to Alexis Douglas with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

She said Sara Shakeri-Taylor, 39, of Ladson, was charged last week with homicide by child abuse.
